2016 Series Schedule

January 4, 2016 // Leave a Comment

Challenge Cup Series | Races

The Challenge Cup Series governing board has maintained the excitement generated by their fantastic 2015 season to produce a 2016 schedule at five of the top racing venues in Canada and the U.S. Northeast.

Starting on June 17-19, the Challenge Cup Series has been invited back to Canada. We’re again teaming with the Canadian 1200 Series, making this Canadian Tire Motorsports Park event one of our largest fields of the year. The weekend will offer three points races, five races overall, with a bonus race for exhibition.

Going from one world-class track to another, the Challenge Cup will be at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Fourth of July weekend (July 1-3). As part of the Formula Race Promotions event, we’ll enjoy three days of racing, featuring two points races and over 2 hours and 45 minutes of track time.

We then head to historic Thompson Speedway Motorsport Park in Connecticut for a Friday-Saturday event on July 22 & 23 with the Sports Car Club of America, where we’ll be racing with the Formula Vee run group in a split start race.

Our August 13-14 weekend takes us to Pittsburgh International Race Complex, racing on the newly-constructed long course. Last year’s event saw the most intense racing of the year, as two young drivers claimed the first victories of their careers. This will be an SCCA race with the Formula First cars in a split start.

Our season finale takes us to Watkins Glen International for the SCCA “Fun One” on September 17-18. We’ll run the short course one day, and the long course the other. Points will be awarded for day one only, toward our 2016 season championships. The Challenge Cup not-to-be-missed annual awards presentation and dinner will be held after the conclusion of Saturday’s race.
